Season of Mist releasing the anniversary reissue of the album “Oikoumene (10th Anniversary Edition)" - an edited and remastered version of the iconic album by Theodor Bastard.
In the new version listeners will find not only a new sound and a different conceptual order of songs, but also three previously unreleased new tracks. They are a unique addition to the already known material. The Jamarakaya song included in the reissue was previously performed at the band's concerts and was dearly loved by fans. Now there is an opportunity to hear it in studio quality. Two other tracks such as MamaTerra and Atika were recorded in the same period as "Oikoumene", but they are released for the first time. Despite the fact that these compositions are very different, they have one thing in common — they are permeated with a pristine ethnic atmosphere, akin to the sound kaleidoscope of the album "Oikoumene", and continue the story of distant, unexplored lands.
The album "Oikoumene" was recognized by critics as one of the significant works in the genre of modern world music. A completely live recording with many instruments and performers filled with world folk motifs, became a turning point in the development of Theodor Bastard.
The first edition of "Oikoumene" was released on February 22, 2012 on the band's own label Theo Records, a year later the disc was released in Europe by the German label Danse Macabre Records, in Mexico by The Art Records and reissued by the label Mirumir on vinyl. The total circulation of the album exceeded all the editions of the band at that time and was sold out in record time, after which it was reprinted many times, enjoying continued popularity with fans from all over the world.
The recording of the album “Oikoumene" was attended by the cult British band Fun-Da-Mental, the Zulu choir The Mighty Zulu Nation, Indian sarod performer Rampur Rani, a unique French singer of African descent Julien Jacob and others. The musicians recorded material in different cities and at several studios - in St. Petersburg (“House of 100 Sounds”, “Dobrolet”), in England (PMA Basement Studios, Huddersfeild and Unit 13, London) and in Paris (Passage A Niveaux). The design uses the works of the famous Russian artist Boris Indrikov.
The Season of Mist label reissues the album "Oikoumene (10th Anniversary Edition)" in three collector's versions:
1) СD (digipack, 12-page booklet)
2) Black heavy weight 12" double vinyl (33 rpm, 180 grams) in deluxe printed inner sleeves (with soft touch matt lamination) in deluxe gatefold (with soft touch matt lamination).
3) Gold & orange mixed 12" double vinyl (33 rpm, 140g) in deluxe printed inner sleeves in deluxe gatefold (with soft touch matte lamination).
